Our site developer Shiv talks us through the new Minxters website.

It's an jolly time of year, with Christmas just around the corner, and here at Minxters HQ things are getting pretty exciting too. With new skaters freshly graduating as post-mins, our first ever blog and our brand new website, it's a cracking time for the team. To celebrate the launch of the new site, we took a moment to chat with our fabulous developer, Shiv, for the details on the latest piece of Minxters news.

Q: The new site looks great! Tell us, what made you decide on building a brand new website?

A: I think the we just needed a fresh start as far as the website was concerned. So much had changed since the old site was started, including our logo and general design. Rather than work around the old foundations to incorporate this I thought it was a great opportunity to make something much prettier and more practical from scratch. Also, from the building side, the older format was incredibly tricky to work with at times. Beyond all this, online presence is just so important. I didn’t like how messy the old site was and have no doubt that it didn’t make a great first impression, which I hate the thought of. I wanted people to see something tidy and simple, but with everything they could need.

Q: Fab! How long did this project take you?

A: It’s really hard to say, as I chipped away at this in pockets of spare time over a few weeks. Building the site itself, as well as gathering bits and pieces from the team for it was probably around 15 hours in total. Considering I know I’ve spent more than this on one page alone on the old site, I’m very happy with this!

Q: Talk us through the new features.

In terms of the basics, the Team page is up to date and due to the simplicity of the new build will stay current as changes now take a matter of minutes rather than hours. I also spent some time putting together a bit more detail on joining our Fresh Meat sessions, as we get asked about this a lot.

From a content side, you can now expect to see regular posts from us. These are going to cover so many different things and will include tips and tricks, personal blogs, product reviews and match summaries, to name a few!

Q: How exciting! Finally, what is your favourite thing about the new site?

A: I don’t care how shallow it is, but just how pretty it looks. Plus, with the new content that’s already starting it’s finally something reflective of our team and the enthusiasm that’s behind us.
